If you are looking for something that few other collectors have than this package deal just might be for you? You are looking at an early Shure brothers 5B model spring microphone with period adjustable brass floor stand. The 5B is a carbon mic that was quite common in the 1920 and mid 30's before the design and elements began evolving and eventually phased out by the 1940's altogether.  You'll notice right away that the 5B housing is a polished chrome finish and shows quite a bit of wear in the form of pitting. Still a decent piece considering it's age. I'm unaware if the metal ring is original but it shows wear consistent with the element so there's a good chance it may very well be. The springs are certainly newer but do a great job supporting the mic and you rarely ever see the original springs on one of these mics. I'm also unaware of the mics working status though it's complete inside and out with the exception of 4 missing screws that hold the housing together. The ring has the universal 5/8 X 27 thread so it will technically screw on to any American desk or floor stand though the floor stand is included. The floor stand seen is part of this sale and it came with the mic so I'm pretty sure they were bought together or at the very least have been used together for several decades. The floor stand is an uber rare model and I'm not aware who made it though it's surely an American brand that is period to the mic but still a great combo as it has a heavy cast iron base that will keep this older mic from tipping. This is the only make and model I have ever seen of this stand. The stand is appx 61 inches in height when fully extended and 37 inches low when depressed fully. The brass stems and base cover show a heavy patina but can be cleaned if desired. I left it alone as the patina is actually quite beautiful. There are no dents or damage to any of the brass pieces which is quite rare in itself. Just typical lite rust stains on the bottom of the cast iron base but has been thoroughly cleaned. Four thick felt pads were applied with resin to keep the stand from scratching any surface it might sit on. They can be removed with a knife if you do not want them on the base.  This stand is quite heavy due to the cast iron base and will cost a bit more to ship. If you are a serious collector of vintage Americans mics then you know what a unique mic this is. She'll make an awesome display piece anywhere it sits in the home, studio or office.       And as always...   I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period.
