Up for sale, a Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling bass in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. This little brother of the Stingray is renowned in its own right and features a smaller body while still delivering positively huge low end and a range of tones that is distinctly "Music Man." With a three-band active EQ and three-way pickup selector switch, there's an incredible amount of versatility via the single ceramic humbucker. Fitted with a phantom coil for hum cancellation, the pickup is punchy, round, and articulate. Whether you want gobs of smooth low end thump or more present midrange and treble growl, the Sterling is an incredible tool. The bass weighs in at 8lbs 8oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar bar with 45-100 roundwound strings. The maple neck features a full 34" scale, with a slender 1 1/2" nut width reminiscent of a Jazz Bass in terms of feel. The profile shape is a well rounded medium C, and the smooth satin finish on the neck profile feels great on the palm. There's also some incredible birdseye figuring in the maple across the entire profile particularly concentrated near the neck heel. The 22 original "high profile" wide frets show virtually no wear, with perfectly rounded crowns. The bass plays cleanly in all positions with no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the Music Man stamped chrome Schaller tuning machines work as they should, and the back of the headstock notes the USA-made construction of the instrument. All of the electronics work as they should, with an active preamp that boasts Bass, Middle, and Treble boost/cut knobs, as well as a Master Volume. The three-way pickup selector toggle engages either both coils in series, a single coil mode, or both coils in parallel. The stock hardware is all present and the chrome is flawless. In terms of cosmetic wear, we'll conservatively call this bass "near mint," but we simply can't find a scratch on it.A tweed hardshell case is included.
