There are nine mandolin wood sets and the shop supplies that were on hand when I became unable to continue building to my standards of craftsmanship due to failing eyesight issues. The first set is of quilted maple and has a F5 style rim bent from the same piece of wood. It has a quilted maple neck blank and a Sitka spruce top.
The second set is a partially carved F5 style with flame maple back and rim, a roughed out Sitka spruce top, and matching maple neck blank.
The third set is a flame maple A style back and rim with a commercially made flame maple neck blank. The top is a nice one piece Sitka spruce top.
The fourth set consists of a flame maple back billet and a Sitka spruce top with bearclaw figure.
The fifth set is a quilted maple back billet and a matching neck billet paired with an Adirondack Red spruce top from a particularly fine old-growth tree.
The sixth set is a large highly flamed maple billet with enough wood for the neck, the back, and the rim. It is paired with a fine grained Sitka spruce top.
Next are two one piece flame maple backs in a single billet. I paired one of them with a wide grain Sitka Spruce top billet and the other one with a curly Redwood top. There are nice flame maple neck billets for both.
The ninth set is a European flame maple back and sides with careful resawing and a Sitka spruce top. The neck for this one will be a two piece neck. I make them with an ebony center stripe for a dramatic look. In the shop supplies that are included with this lot are some ebony headplate seconds that make a great center stripe on a two piece laminated neck
The shop supplies include between 80 and 90' of mandolin fretwire, 3 Cumberland Acoustic old-style compensated bridges, two other bridges, 7 endpins, three cards of thorn vine pre-cut inlay, gold and white MOP blanks, Abalone blanks. Included binding consists of over 32 ' of peghead binding, 14 4' sticks of fingerboard binding, and 13 4' sticks of the Ivoriod -Black binding that gets laminated to it. There are also 19 4' lengths of body binding and other parts too numerous to count. Also included are 6 of the traditional ebonized pear wood veneers for the back of the F5 peghead. The photos show the other shop supplies and the block and brace wood. Please note that this will ship in three packages, due to weight and size. Shipping is actual cost per UPS.
