Up for sale, a 2010 Gibson Les Paul Special in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with a sleek gloss wine red finish. Not to be confused with Gibson's "Faded" series, this guitar boasts a gloss nitro lacquer finish and is a faithful reissue of a 1950's single cutaway Special, with the added benefit of a Tune-o-Matic bridge for more accurate intonation. Featuring a pair of Gibson's P-90 pickups (as opposed to the much maligned P-100 seen on most earlier Special reissues), there's plenty of classic growl, presence, and midrange power available via these pickups, which are genuine single coils with ceramic magnets! The guitar weighs in at 8lbs 10oz and has a clear acoustic voice that translates well through the pickups, with the warmth of a solid mahogany body and set neck construction. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Les Paul Special has been dialed in with low, comfortable action, and fresh 10-46 strings. The neck has a medium C profile that borders on the more slender side of things, while still having full, well rounded shoulders and a substantial feel. The original frets are just shy of medium jumbo in width with plenty of height and perfectly rounded crowns. These frets show virtually no wear and this guitar has truly seen sparingly little use since it was new! The rosewood slab fretboard has a very alluring stripey grain pattern, and the board has pearl dot inlay as well. The nut is a full 1 11/16" and the scale length is the traditional Gibson 24 3/4". On the headstock, the original Kluson Deluxe tuning machines are intact and turn smoothly with original lightly greened tulip buttons. The back of the headstock has a clear serial number which dates the guitar to 2010, as well as the "Made in USA" Gibson stamp. All of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume and Tone controls for each pickup, with clean, original bell knobs. The chrome Nashville bridge and Stopbar tailpiece are in great shape, and the original three-ply black pickguard, switch tip, and pickup selector Rhythm/Treble ring are also intact and minty. The gloss wine red nitro lacquer finish is in great shape, with only a couple tiny dings and faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body. There are a few small nicks in the finish adjacent to the binding on the treble side of the fretboard near frets 12-13, and also a small chip on the edge of the headstock veneer by the low E tuning machine post. Overall, this is a very clean and 100% original Gibson Les Paul Special, professionally setup and ready to be played! The original well-padded Gibson gigbag is included, along with the original manual and paperwork.
