Nicknamed The Workhorse and first introduced in 1942, this popular acoustic is now the icon of its round-shoulder, dreadnought line. The J-45 is world renowned for its full, balanced expression, warm bass and excellent projection. This October limited edition J-45 Mahogany Special is no different. Gibson gave this very special and rare limited edition the full mahogany treatment, creating a very unique and exclusive instrument built exclusively for Musicians Friend. Handcrafted in the Bozeman, Montana facility this J-45 Mahogany Special features a solid mahogany top and mahogany back and sides. This rarely used tonewood combination offers a beautiful vintage style look and very unique warm and round sound. The vintage vibe doesnt stop there. The J-45 Mahogany features classic Gibson script and banner headstock detail framed by relic strap open-back tuners outfitted with white button knobs. The rosewood fingerboard and matching rosewood bridge are hand inlaid with mother-of-pearl dots. Finished with a special Vintage Sunburst color to allow the grain of the mahogany top to be exposed and detailed with a traditional tortoise tear drop shaped pickguard. This limited edition features the added versatility of a built-in L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup with soundhole-mounted volume and tone control.Only 75 J-45 Mahogany Specials will be made in this Limited Edition run. Each guitar includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity, hardshell case with plush-lined interior, and owner's manual. Handcrafted by the acclaimed luthiers of Gibson's acoustic facility in Bozeman, Montana.
