This is a stunning horn. This is a Meister Hans Hoyer descant double french horn (serial number 43695 M on the leadpipe). This horn is constructed from gold brass, which has a higher copper content than yellow brass. This gives the horn a warmer, fuller sound. The horn has nickel silver accents, and is a full double descant horn, not to be confused with a compensating double. This horn is designed primarily for principal horn players for use while playing in the extreme high register, and can be set to stand in either Bb or F alto as the player desires. The horn also features a stopping valve on the Bb side, and has a bore of .460" (11.5mm) on the Bb side and .433" (11mm) on the F side. This instrument plays very well. The valves have very good compression, and the slides all move of course. As for the aesthetic condition of this horn, there are a couple of tiny dings throughout the horn, as well as several areas of rippling and scratching. All this is visible in the pictures, and none of it affects the playability of the horn. This instrument has been professionally cleaned in our shop and repaired to full playability. This horn is not lacquered; therefore fingerprints should be wiped off after use if the player wished for the horn to stay as shiny as it is now; if they are not wiped off then the horn will develop a lovely patina. This instrument comes with its original somewhat worn hardshell case, and a mouthpiece in good condition.
