This guitar is unique. I was told by the previous owner that the Brazilian rosewood on the back of this guitar was acquired from an Italian source and that the rosewood was at least 100 years old. Manuel Rodriguez and sons made a series of unique guitars with each of the slabs they acquired. So special was this series of guitars that they named each guitar rather than giving them serial numbers. This guitar’s “serial number” is "La Emperatriz", named after the famous 1884 Antonio de Torres "La Emperatriz" guitar. The book matched back is a rare piece of art wood unique among Rosewood guitars. When you open the case, the aroma of Rosewood is overpowering. The tone of this guitar is as big as a house! The combination of Brazilian rosewood and cedar top gives it unbelievable projection. The guitar was refinished with French polish by the German Vazquez Guitar Shop in Los Angeles. There are two small imperfections which don’t really detract from the guitar. There is a small blemish on the underside of the guitar edge and a small hairline crack on the top cedar next to the fingerboard. The Rosewood armrest can be removed with no harm to the guitar.
A humidifier case is included with the guitar. The case is covered with a “basket weave” like material and a looker itself!I did some research on this guitar and found one of its “sister” guitars.
