Broadwood Antique Concert Grand Piano With A Rare Arts and Crafts Oak Case C.1884 A magnificent John Broadwood and Sons antique oak concert grand piano built in London circa 1884. This piano would have been made as a limited edition exhibition model inspired by the burgeoning arts and crafts movement of 1880s Europe and North America. Oak case with carved, ornamented legs, large central music desk with unusual twin music stands either side for accompanying musicians or choir, ornate brass lid catches, brass candle sconces, iron frame, straight strung, 7 octaves, 85 note clean original keyboard, 8' 4" x 4' 10", working order with a pleasing period tone, tuned below concert pitch to A428. A rare and beautifully constructed piano showcasing the quality and style of this prestigious British piano maker. Dimensions L 254cm x W 146cm
History Established in 1728, John Broadwood and Sons is the oldest and one of the most prestigious piano makers of all time. Their instruments have been enjoyed by famous composers and musicians such as Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart and Liszt.
