AKG D-12E Cardioid-pattern dynamic microphone This mic is in absolutely 100% perfect and reliable working order. It's been stored in environmental conditions consistent with those stated in its technical specifications and has been consistently stored in a mic case when not in use.I purchased it with a set of several AKG mics in 2003. It came from the personal stock of the owner of a sound production company who kept them aside for exclusively his use, and who sold them to me knowing I would do the same.
Some discoloration was present when he bought the mics, and, of course, it still is. I can only speak to the conditions *we* stored it in since the mid 1990's, but I can at least speak to those with certainty.
It's one of two D-12 Es that came in the set. This is the cleaner of the pair, and has thus been in the case for most of its time in my possession. I used the rough one to keep this one in nice shape, and only pulled this one out occasionally to make sure it still worked well (which, of course, it did).
There are no weird noises. No connections are intermittent.
All pins are rigid and fixed firmly in place. The plastic ring is in excellent functioning condition. The retention screws for the socket and plastic ring are present and tight, and there are absolutely no signs anywhere of stress cracks in the plastic.
This microphone is structurally and functionally in 100% working condition, guaranteed.
You can take the package directly to a studio or stage, open the box in front of a client, and stick it front of the kick drum knowing, with full confidence, that it does and *is* going to work flawlessly out of the box. Every attempt has been made to emphasize and demonstrate any and all cosmetic flaws. While far from perfect, I'm rating it as "very good condition" because I feel the wear and tear is relatively low, and because it's in absolutely excellent working order.I tried to emphasize cosmetic flaws as much as possible in the photographs, and it really looks a little better in person. That's my opinion, however, and I cannot guarantee you will feel the same.
I'm not a very good photographer, and I had to use my phone. Rather than optimize the photos to make the mic look good, I tried to focus on the flaws. I am completely and absolutely confident that the purchaser of this finely crafted Austrian microphone will get years of service from it.
This mic will be double-boxed for safety. Shipping will be via USPS Priority Mail with Signature Confirmation, so you (or someone at your address) will have to sign for delivery (inconvenient, perhaps, but safe.)
