I'm not sure if this specific mic has a wonderful history because it has a great sound, or a great sound because of it's wonderful history. It was used on a few records by a certain chicago singer who is pretty infamous, and stays out of jail really well. While I've had it, it was used by many other known and not-as-known artists and rappers. I really really really like it with the Wunder Preamp and the CL1B but your taste may be different. About 45 (usage) hours ago I got it back from Sony in NJ after they rebuilt the mic and the power supply. Over time the tubes do go and they as well as the heat shielding need to be replaced and then calibrated. This cost $2380 with return shipping. Ouch It's worth it! Hard to go wrong on pop vocals with this microphone, or any vocals really. Comes as shown, with manuals, mic, shockmount, cables and power supply. Also included for free is the custom mic cable I had built just for this mic. It's a strange, expensive cable using a rare Mogami that sounds wonderful. It's so thick, the connectors barely fit on it. I know these can go for around $5-$6000 on eBay, but I think the piece of mind knowing it just came back from Sony is worth a little bit more. I'm sure knowing you have many many years of great recordings ahead is worth a little bit more too. I am open to reasonable offers, but please compare this in value to a new microphone because it truly is as close as can be. This isn't a beat up unmaintained mic. It's a classic. All proceeds to charity. Great time to pick it up and get your section 179 write off before 12/31!
