Up for purchase is a Vintage King 2103 (3B) Trombone. This monster player is in need of some cosmetics due to use and age. It has dings and dents and signs of repair as seen in the pictures but it plays very nicely. This instrument has a case: True Case Status is Fair Case Comments: Comes with a hard, wooden King “Coffin” case. This case has seen better days but could be refurbished. It will be packed carefully for shipping. Slide action is 9 out of 10. Slide Comments: Everything moves well and the slide falls on its own weight at a 45 degree angle. As I haven’t had it done in a while, it could use a professional repair tech’s touch. However, this baby is ready to serenade and peel paint right out of the case. Main tuning slide moves well. I have replaced the gooseneck and one of the bell braces but the rest of the parts are all original. The King 2103 (3B) Trombone is a professional level horn, billed as the “Concert” in previous incarnations. This trombone has a bore of .508 which is slightly bigger than the more common .500 bore used on most modern small bore trombones. This baby helps to fill the gap between the small bore beginner instruments (.500”) and the larger orchestral trombones (.547”). The 3B is well known as a “Jazz” horn because it is a preferred instrument amongst Jazz trombonists due to its being a bit more mellow than smaller instruments but still providing that punch associated with King Trombones. It will provide a great sound, impeccable intonation and comfortable playing. This used to be my main axe for years and I am sad to see her go. We’ve traveled the world together but I have another 3B and she’s only collecting dust now. I want her to go to someone who will use the long life that she has left to make music again. I have recently play tested this one and it will work well for the Professional, intermediate or returning player. Make no mistake, you will fall in love with this one. Great main horn for a pro or excellent for Marching or Concert Band for the skilled student. This horn can use both a good cleaning and servicing by a repair tech but is ready to play out of the box. Comes with a 12C mouthpiece included. For beginners, it’s usually a toss-up between a small shank 12C or a small shank 6 ½ AL (Bach Mouthpiece sizes).
