Maple stave snare drums are a welcome addition to the growing family of Gretsch® snare drums. Built in the same fashion as professional quality conga drums, the staving process utilizes solid, 7/8" thick, vertical-grain blocks of wood that are precision-pinned and glued together to make the shell. Due to this design element, the shells are extremely durable and create a drum that stands the test of time. The thick maple shell and 45-degree bearing edge creates a well rounded, familiar timbre that is characteristic of an all-maple shell. At the same time, the inherent power and volume of a stave shell give these drum limitless headroom that will cut through any amount of excessive stage volume. The distressed satin lacquer finish and Gretsch appointments make the new Barn Board snares instant classics.
