This guitar was part of a trade deal and came to us virtually untouched. The glossy cherry finish with maple top is a sight to behold, and the chambered body provides more complex tones while not weighing you down physically or sonically. The 60's neck profile measures approximately .800" at the first fret and .875" at the 12th, with a smooth gloss finish that really lets your hand glide around easily. If you are adverse to the overly chunky 50's Gibson neck profile, you'll easily bond with the Slim 60's shape.The Alnico 2 Classic '57 neck pickup has a good balance of warmth and clarity, with the A2 magnets providing a slightly soft attack with excellent harmonic content and a loose, bluesy feel. The Burstbucker has a stronger Alnico V magnet that is naturally tighter and brighter, and brings the power to the party. With ample punch and bite, it is prepared to handle anything from country twang to in-your-face rock. And as with many Les Paul guitars, the coolest tones come when blending both pickups, which is where many of the greats got their signature sounds. For icing-on-the-cake flexibility, you can split each pickup individually with the push/pull volume controls.Probably no guitar design embodies the era of Classic Rock better than the Les Paul.
