This is a brand new Gibson Firebird V 2010 - made in Nashville, TN. USA.  I purchased it thinking I'd want to tour with it, but it never made it out of my studio.  It's only been played a few times and it's in perfect condition.  The guitar comes with a brand new case, that still smells like vanilla, from the factory.  I don't know what they do, but it makes it sort of luxurious.  I bought it for $2300 a couple of years ago, and have changed the strings to a larger gauge.  (11 gauge)... It's ready to play and in perfect condition.  Case is mint, as well.  Haven't toured with it, haven't traveled with it.  The type of music I do does not lend itself to this guitar's sound - I just loved the look of it - at the time.  I wouldn't sell it, because I have always wanted one, but I need to get rid of some things. The case, alone, is worth at least another $150.. so do yourself a favor, get the guitar and case together...See photos and ask any questions you like.  This is owned and sold by Chris Broach (of Braid, The Firebird Band, Sunset, Ghost Work).  Chris is the original owner of this guitar. Thanks
Details from the Gibson website: Conceived amid the chrome and tailfins of the Motor City, forged on the workbenches of Kalamazoo, proven on rock and blues stages around the globe, the Gibson Firebird was one of the most radical instruments the world had ever experienced when it hit the scene in 1963, and it's still a guaranteed head-turner today. The Firebird was the brainchild of legendary automotive designer and visionary Ray Dietrich (designer of classic Lincoln and Packard cars), enlisted by Gibson to bolster the guitar lines of the early '60s and help solidify the company's eminent rank among solidbody electric guitar manufacturers. Dietrich's unconventional design was based loosely on both the legendary automobile tailfins of the 1950s, with a touch of the radical look of the Gibson Explorer, introduced five years earlier. Built precisely in the image of this icon, the Gibson USA Firebird V 2010, with its classic "reverse-body" styling and reverse six-in-line "hawk's head" headstock, strikes a pose that remains as truly unique today as it was nearly five decades ago. It retains the visionary "through-body" neck design that increases sustain and resonance, while upgrading the instrument's power with a pair of ceramic-magnet mini-humbucking pickups that look identical to the originals. With its nitrocellulose finish in three eye-catching colors—Vintage Sunburst, Ebony Black, or Classic White—and traditional appointments such as the pearloid trapezoid fingerboard inlays, beveled headstock with black central section, and Firebird pickguard motif, today's Firebird V 2010 is visually indistinguishable from its predecessor of the early '60s, but it roars like no 'Bird before it. Considered just too far ahead of its time back in the day, the "reverse-body" Firebird was deleted for a somewhat more traditionally shaped "non-reverse" Firebird in 1965, and remains a rare bird indeed, but the Gibson USA Firebird V 2010 brings that radical look and sound back to the hands of hardworking guitarists everywhere. SpecificationsBodySpecies: MahoganyBody Type: FirebirdAdhesive: Franklin Titebond 50NeckSpecies: Mahogany/WalnutProfile: - Need infoTruss Rod: Traditional AdjustableJoint Angle: 5° (+/- 15 seconds)Adhesive: Franklin Titebond 50Neck FitJoint: Mortise & TenonAdhesive: Franklin Titebond 50Joint Angle Tolerance: +/- .005"FingerboardSpecies: RosewoodFrets: 22Radius: 12"Binding: Single Ply Cream BindingInlays: Figured Acrylic TrapazoidsNut/E.O.B: 1.695"/2.260"NutMaterial: CorianWidth: 1.695Slots: Gibson PLEK SystemHeadstockType: FirebirdTruss Rod Cover: Black with Gold "Gibson" LogoTunersModel: Steinberger GearlessPlating: ChromeTuning Ratio: 40:1Standard Gearless Tuning SystemBridgeType: Tune-O-MaticMaterial: ZamakPlating: ChromeTailpieceType : Stop BarMaterial: ZamakPlating: ChromeHardwareKnobs: Black Top Hats with Silver Metal InsertsPickguard: Red Bird LogoControl Plate Cover: Firebird style, solid blackStrap Buttons: AluminumStrings: .010 - .046, Genuine Gibson stringsOutput Jack: 1/4" JackPickupsNeck Position: 495RBridge Position: 495TMagnet Material: CeramicElectronicsPotentiometers: 2 Volume, 2 Tone ControlsType: 300k Linear Volume, 500k Non-linear ToneCoil Wiring: Machine WoundToggle Switch: Three-way Toggle with Cream plastic tipOutput Jack: 1/4" StereoFinishSealer: NitrocelluloseProcess: 1-1.5 mils
