For sale is a one-owner Gibson LG-2 guitar. This is either a 1946 or a 1947, I'm not an expert on these guitars so I can't say for certain. Either way, it's a wonderful guitar. Sounds great. Plays well. What looks to be the original chipboard case is included in the sale. Condition-wise, I will try to touch on all of the issues. It does have some shallow cracking (see pictures) that will need to be addressed if it is going to be turned into a top-notch guitar. None of these go all the way through from what I can tell. On the top, there is one on the left side of the fret board that looks like it may have had a repair some time ago. On the left side of the pick guard, there is one that touches the opening in the body. Then there is the third below the bridge. These all look to be, in my opinion, due to temperature fluctuations over the years. There is also one on the side of the guitar close to where it would sit on your knee. That is also a relatively shallow one that does not go all the way through. That's it for cracks, the back is totally clean except for minor wear. It has general weather checking and pick wear as might be expected. The original owner made a few markings on the guitar. He carved his initials in the back (pictured). He also wrote the string tunings on the head stock and then some notes in the same type of paint on the fret board. These can surely be easily removed. I purchased this guitar at an estate sale and have not done anything to it. I haven't even tuned it. I'm offering it as an all-original example of a great guitar. It needs some work and the right owner to turn it into a $10,000 guitar. I know that. I've got it marked high and I have it online to take offers on it. I will not consider anything under $5,000 right now. I've got some buds that are dying for me to sell it to them and I have local cash offers already but I want to offer it here first. This guitar is all about the sound. A very warm, resonant tone fills up the whole room. The guitar reverberates in your lap.As for playability, it plays well with no dead frets. You can play scales up and down the fret board with ease. The action feels good. Whether the neck needs reset, I can't really say. I always played electric guitars with low action and this feels similar to a lot of other high-end acoustics I've played. I've taken two pictures of the strings to show the action. The strings are closer to the fret board near the nut and about a quarter of an inch above it at the highest fret. The inside fittings are all very, very solid. Everything on it looks unmodified and totally original from the tuners to the bridge to the pick guard to the saddle. Everything looks original to the guitar. It is missing the end pin on the bottom and would need a replacement there. That is the only missing piece. Shipping is $100 set to the lower 48, fully insured of course and very well packed. Alaska and Hawaii will need to message me for a rate. Everything overseas will have to go through the eBay International Shipping program. I've had good success with that on all of my other items that went overseas. I've represented this guitar as honestly as I know how. I am no expert on vintage Gibsons and I can only give you an enthusiast's opinion on the condition. Good luck and please feel free to ask any questions.**********Two folks wrote to say that they believed this guitar is an LG-2. I just measured and it is 14.5" at the waist, which presumably makes this guitar an inch or so smaller in the body than a J-45. Everything else is identical I believe. Checking through my database of past auction records, I've found slightly higher sales prices on the LG-2's than the J-45's. Please note the updated title. Thanks**********
