Ultra rare 1978 Ibanez Professional. Absolutely stunningly beautiful. "Built by the proud craftsman of Ibanez" as stated on the gold back cover. Carved "German" top. That alone is an interesting bit of Ibanez history. Scrolled headstock with subtle reference to Gibson's mustache design. Antique violin finish. Spectacular graining front and rear. Aside from some barely visible marks this guitar looks, feels and plays like it is brand new. Unreal for a guitar that is almost 40 years old. The photos disclose some dust here and there due to it being displayed on a stand. It is not corrosion or finish defect. The binding shows beautiful aging but is complete and in perfect condition. Gold hardware throughout. Flying Fingers pick-ups. Ibanez "pearl" tuners. All the best that Ibanez had to offer at that time. And block split abalone position markers. There isn't very much information on this particular configuration. A much more common variation of this guitar has a vine inlay on the fretboard and headstock. Also, the fretboard is stamped "2" at the 23 fret. There are various opinions on what this number stamp might mean but the Japanese didn't do anything like that without a reason. The few number stamped Ibanez fretboards I've seen have all been on extremely limited editions.
