I am selling my vintage 1966 Mosrite Celebrity III Bass to raise some money for Christmas. It has a very low serial number which means it comes from the first batch of 25 ever made. I discussed this bass on the Mosrite celebrity forum a few years ago and no one came forward with an earlier serial number, so potentially it is the earliest one in existence. Someone also added that semi Mosley also always worked on first batches himself to ensure quality control and that his team learnt the job properly. So owning this bass is a kin to owning a fender that was hand built by Leo Fender! Very collectible and very rare! Also totally surplus to requirement if you are a guitarist (not a bass playing genius!) with no money to buy presents for the family....so time to let this beauty go to another home. Be aware there is a little moth damage to the felt lining of the original purpose built California case company hard case, the chrome bridge cover has long since been lost and the truss rod plate on the head is broken. All of which are very easy to have replicated and replaced if you wanted to. The over all condition of the bass is very good with little sign of wear. The bass has a 25" inch short scale neck which makes it great fun to play chord work and has a beautiful hollow haunting sound that I always loved. This would ideally suit a smaller handed bass player or a guitarist like myself who loves to jam around in the bass register. A much loved instrument and I am sad to see it go.
