The old Epi archtops were the best in terms of SOUND because of the excellent high quality of Instrument Grade woods that the Old Epiphone Co. had access to (having been a quality cello company started in the late 1800's), plus the skilled "old world" craftsman that Epiphone was famous for. This particular example is a 17" (hand carved top) Extremely Rare Blonde BROADWAY Model, which has great SOUND because it featured no decorative binding in the F-Holes which in turn allows the top to ring out & project more completely. This guitar is from my personal collection, which I always selected for the SOUND of the instrument primarily. Plus of course the playability of the neck, which here has a perfect profile relief up and down the neck (& working truss rod, not found on D'Angelico's for example from the same period, -not that this is so critical, since these nicely aged woods have settled in over time and need little adjustment, if ever.)Also, there is no fretwear or fingerboard wear. The Rosewood fingerboard features the large Block Inlays of Mother Of Pearl, which gives a nice "pianistic" effect. The headstock inlay is the very rare (& sexy)"Hula Girl" design. The Pickguard (aka Guardplate, (r.i.p. my old friend and great Luthier Ron DiMarino)... the guardplate here is a real rare gem as it is still totally intact from that original time period. Many of these ol' pickguards from this period had been made of a type of acetate material which decomposed over time, but not this special see-through beauty. It's a real survivor.Likewise, the "magnificent" original Brazilian Rosewood arch-fitted adjustable BRIDGE is here and not missing (as is so often the unfortunate case on these great old arctops).Likewise "magnificent" is the flame of the maple sides, & the active tiger stripe maple back. The neck is top quality mahogany. The top is perfect grained highest quality Spruce, now aged to a golden blonde amber hue. (a slightly more open grain such as found on this Broadway is highly desirable as it gives a better harmonic tone plus more volume, than a tighter grain, (as often found on flat-top guitars for example). The original Epi closed tuners are all in perfect working order. The solid original Lifton arched ("what's the lowdown" Brown Case has an authentic "vintage roughness" exterior which gives a nice vintage personality and character (as do a few little insignificant "dings" & little scratches on the guitar itself, in unimportant non-noticeable locations on the guitar), while the case's interior is a flashy bright red plush which looks great in contrast with the flashy blonde guitar.Enjoy, (grab it b4 some1 else does. It's a real goodie.),Ozzyps. I'm only selling these great guitars of mine bec I'm getting too old to play them anymore, so it's time to pass them on to the next generation (b4 I die, ... wh mayb soon.)
