For sale Peavey EVH Wolfgang 1st year Quilt-top hardtail prototype. SN 91001547 These are by far the rarest Wolfgang's that exist and since they stopped manufacturing Quilt tops after the 1st year they were never offered as a production model.   I emailed with Geoff Knapp about this particular guitar and he confirmed it was indeed a prototype.  He said his best guess was that only 8 to 12 were made in 4 different colors. Which means as few as 2 sunbursts were made (3 at the most) and certainly they shipped at least 1 to EVH for approval. Geoff also stated that the Quilt-top on this guitar was about as good as you will find on a Peavey 1st year quilt-top Wolfgang.   This guitar is in good condition except for a couple nicks by input jack and some dings and swirls on back of body.  The quilt top is gorgeous with a 3 dimensional look to it and the neck is a very nice piece of birdseye maple and the fretboard is super clean with no stains. The guitar has been played but has also been very well cared for. This Wolfgang has super low action and plays and sounds fantastic.   The story told to me by the previous owner was that it was given to him by a former Peavey employee as a gift. So I guess that would make me the 2nd or 3rd owner depending on how you look at it. He also stated that the guitar is all original but at some point the nut was replaced. Regardless it's a collector piece of Peavey Wolfgang guitar history and quite possibly one of the rarest Wolfgang's there is. In fact EVH could be the only other owner of one of these.  Please visit Geoff Knapp's site - Rock n Roll Weekend - for more information on the Peavey 1st year quilts. Page 5 has three 1st year quilt top prototypes(but no sunbursts)  I think I priced it fairly when you consider how rare the guitar is. It compares in price with other 1st year quilts that are not prototypes and don't come close to the quilt top that this one has.  Feel free to message me with any questions.  Thanks for looking  Continental USA only but message me if you are outside the US and you're very interested then maybe we can work something out.
