Product DescriptionTony Francis 1930 Weissenborn Teardrop, Style 1.5First introduced over 10 years ago in collaboration with an australian collector / player, Tony Francis was the first to make an authentic reproduction of the Weissenborn teardrop available since the 1930s. His authenticity stems from his repair work, and has caught the eye of many of the world’s top performers and collectors. Tony was sent the only known original example of a Style 1.5 teardrop for extensive restoration, and the inspiration to make a reproduction of this rarest of rare guitars, was obvious.Unlike the standard teardrop, the Style 1.5 had a longer neck, different bracing and neck reinforcement specification and scale length, as well as very particular and proprietary style of finish. It was also one of the most inherently musical instruments in the Weissenborn catalog. The Koa used for this guitar is from Tony’s private stock and is a rare opportunity to obtain one without the several year wait list.Tony is a perfectionist craftsman and an authority on Weissenborns of all types. He restores originals from some of the world’s top players and collectors and has built instruments for Ben Harper, James Williamson and many others. Authenticity is paramount to Tony. All hardware is custom made to original specs…Ben Harper has been touring the precursor to this model since 2012 and says “This is one of the finest instruments I have ever held”, and “They are so good I don’t call them a copy, this is the real deal”.
