1918 Gibson F2 Mandolin. Spruce top. Maple sides. Maple back. Serial # 45097 Wonderful instrument ... But alas, Sigh .... selling it to pay some bills I believe this is its original lacquer finish on the face,sides and back. NO CRACKS The head stock has been refinished. Scroll has had a clean break and has been re-attached (see Photo.) All Original Handel inlaid tuners. Nickel plated engraved tailpiece, "The Gibson”, also was engraved with a previous owner's name, "Heskith"(see photos.) Original faux Tortoiseshell pick guard. (I Think It is made of perhaps celluloid, which is fragile but in good condition with a small chip (see photo. Original green velvet-lined case included. Also included are Newspaper clippings from original owner with articles from what appears to be the 1950’s. This a 99 year old instrument ........Here it is (the exact same instrument) on the Mandolin Archive: Is in excellent condition structurally, visually and playability, Wonderful old time bark and sweet, bright high end. Would be a wonderful instrument for any player &/or collector.
