At The Music Locker we will do all we can for you to get the instrument you want, including part-exchanges. Call us anytime on 07970061897 or 07831118877 to discuss the best deal.Description1961 Vox AC10 Fawn Beige Black Top Combo. This particular amplifier has had the 'infamous' black paint job on it back in the 1960s. When Vox changed the tolex of these amplifiers from fawn to black in 1962, current owners of the Vox amplifiers wanted the 'new' look, hence painting them black to fit in with the new fashion of all black amplifiers. We have stripped as much paint as we can off this amplifier, for the buyer to decide whether this piece of history is to be stripped back even more to the original fawn or kept as it is - with a story to tell! This particular amplifier was only made from January - December in 1961 and is one of the hardest Vox amplifiers to find - the 'Thin Edge' Fawn Cabinet, with the Black control panel.Although this is a rare amplifier, this particular one has been refurbished from a sorry state to the playable state it is now in. Please don't expect this to be a collectors amplifier - it really is not. Please read on...Product DetailsSerial Number: NA (backplate lost)Watts: 12 wattsPower Valves: 2x EL84 Other Valves: 1x EZ81, 1x ECF82, 1x EF86, 1x ECC83Valve Brands: Mullard, Brimar & Electro HarmonixTransformers: 1x Partridge, 1x Correct Replacement & 1x OriginalVoltage Selector: Non - Previously RemovedFootswitch: No. Tremolo activated by switch (as pictured)Service History We pride ourselves on the inspection, authentication, and service of each amplifier to UK standards and regulations. This amplifier came to us in a sorry state, missing part of the circuit board and a transformer. This has been a project to get it back up and running and it now sounds great. You can see in the photographs that this has had a lot of components changed and added. Please note that it is the philosophy of The Music Locker to keep all amplifiers as original as possible, only changing original components when absolutely necessary. This includes valves, capacitors, transformers, potentiometers, etc. This gives the buyer the option of tailoring to their exact needs, and may mean that the amplifier is not operating at optimum performance levels. Therefore, your personal preference may differ, depending on your circumstances (i.e. collector or musician), and you may decide to service the amplifier in more depth upon receiving. The Music Locker cannot accept responsibility for any costs of refurbishment to a standard different to the one advertised.Cosmetic InspectionThis is in used (and probably gigged) condition, as pictured. Besides from the paint, there are a few scuffs and scratches all over. It is missing the 2x brass vents and has a handmade backboard. You can see the remnants of where another handle was previously added and then replaced again with the correct type. The speaker has a small tear in it, as pictured, but still retains a great sound with no significant sound differences. Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description.OriginalityThe backboard is a handmade replacement. The Vox logo is also a replacement. Internally, there has been a lot of parts changed. It is far from an original amplifier, but has been brought back up to standards and playable.SummaryOverall, this is a very rare and collectable amplifier. Not only is this sure to increase in value year on year, but also it can be an enjoyed investment.
