The ES Artist was the best electric guitar ever made. The on-board Moog electronics give a great variety of sounds. The compressor is very funky. The expander and treble boost are also very interesting (just make sure you cut the volume in half before using this feature as it will double the volume, and possibly "blow your socks off"!).This is basically a 335, except it has the great feature of No F-Holes, which improves sustain and eliminates the amp feedback problems of other semi-hollow bodies. Plus it looks super cool without the F-holes, sort of like a large Les Paul. Also featured is the brass nut & top quality ebony fingerboard with excellent pearl dot markers (located uniquely high on the fingerboard. The original TP6 fine tuning tailpiece was an experimental item from Gibson which was meant to look and function like the tuning mechanism of the Kahler tailpieces which were popular at the time. The problem with the TP6 was that they always tilted forward from the string tension and the little tuning knobs were too small and a pain in the neck to use.  So the TP6 was basically a piece of crap. This guitar here features the excellent solid brass/gold Gibson Stop Tailpiece, which gives much better sustain. There is no fingerboard wear or fret wear. I played most of my guitars without the pickguard just like this one, but all the attachment screws are in their correct hole positions right there on the guitar if a pickguard is to be simply installed. The black pickguard is included inside the case compartment. There are also 2 gold screws flat against the underside bottom of the guitar near the end pin where a vibrato tailpiece was once attached. These are not really visible or noticeable and they actually look very nice (if one bothers to look at this part of the guitar). Also, a small ~3/4" area faint "shadow blemish" is barely noticeable on the top behind the gold stop tailpiece, where a vibrato tailpiece (a lightweight Japanese model, - not a heavy Bigsby)once rested; again this is not really noticeable or of any consequence, and one "really has to look" to see it at all. (I tried but couldn't even get it to show in a photo).Included in the case are a pair of fitted brass pickup rings which can be easily installed if desired (gold pickup ring matching brass screws are already in place on the original pickup rings now). And also the original Gibson ES Artist barrel speed knobs with special plus & minus numbering system are included in the case compartment. The current upgraded knobs are a top of the line electrical alloy which function perfectly and are easily interchangeable with the original Gibson speed knobs (for all you "knobsters" out there, like myself); they look great & work perfectly. The Gibson speed knobs are also nice; "either or". Something to noodle around with. The current strings are "out of print" rare Black Teflon Carerra strings (orig. made by Ovation or Adamas, or Kaman, etc.) which look very cool on the Black guitar, and I find are excellent for bending purposes(they are 9's, as opposed to your more standard 10's guage). An extra set of these rare xlnt strings is incl. (I also have several more sets of these available, if the next owner wants a future supply of them. This guitar also features the original Gibson tuning machines with the fantastic flip-out crank style string-winder tuning buttons, which in my opinion is one of the greatest ever ingenius inventions of mankind; - so much better than a typical hand-held plastic string winder (see photo of tuning machines). For those with a "vintage case fetish" like myself, this guitar comes with a case here which is an original super funky black alligator Lifton case with royal purple plush interior(in xlnt condition). The outside of the case features "authentic vintage roughness & character",  yet with solid arched top construction all still intact. "It's a great "trip".  I love it. Enjoy, Ozzy
