Corton (Lidl) F/Bb Full Double French Horn with Mouthpiece & SKB Case. Serviced.
Estimated price for orientation: 389 $
Category: French Horns
Class:
Description Type: Double Horn Finish: Amber Lacquered Country/Region of Manufacture: Czech Republic Bell Material: Brass Brand: Lidl
A full double F/Bb French Horn, made by the excellent Josef Lidl company of Brno. Many Lidl horns were imported under the Corton brand name. Non-full-double Cortons were also made in Italy by Rampone, but these full doubles all seem to be Lidls, they look like them, are built like them and play like them, as does this one here. These are designed for the student, amateur and improving player. They blow very well. They are built to last the rigours of student ownership, having plenty of metal. They are probably a bit too heavy for small children, but most growing children will manage fine, certainly teenagers will. This one is in pretty good cosmetic condition. The lacquer has worn over time and at the sites of repairs, but the yellow brass has been cleaned and buffed up professionally by a brass repair shop, and it looks worlds better than it did before. It is dent-free, but a number of shallow dings remain in hard-to-reach places. They have no consequences in terms of playing or sound quality. The rotor valves move smoothly and the slides all slide nicely. I have given it a good service before listing. All the slides have been through my ultrasonic cleaning device, so internal debris has been eradicated. A snake was passed through the leadpipe. Any inspection is welcome, of course, prior to buying, at my home in Bridlington East Yorkshire YO16 6YU. One of these in very good cosmetic condition would normally fetch around £475-£495. The low price asked reflects the cosmetic condition of the horn.
Postage by tracked Parcelforce or free collection in person. Cash on collection preferred, PayPal, Postal Orders or a cleared cheque welcome for buyers using a delivery service. UPS one-day service, fully insured for total value, tracked also offered. The mouthpiece is a general purpose one, I cannot see a maker's name. I found it was well suited to this horn, particularly in the higher reaches, where many student players struggle. I can supply a pro-level mouthpiece for an extra £15, such as by Denis Wick, Paxman, Alexander. Please ask if interested. Mouthpieces are decidedly personal things. The SKB case is good and protective, though not new. It is of "bomb-proof" build quality, as they say. I am used to shipping horns and will pack it up very carefully to avoid damage in transit. I am not prepare to ship abroad, sorry.
