I have here for sale the culmination of a 2 year project to build the best acoustic/electric mandolin possible. And finally this living beauty has a heart beat. If you play mandolin, you know it is very hard to find a good pickup for them. And almost none have a preamp already built in, let alone one that is balance properly for mandolin with the proper pickup that senses top and string vibration equally. I have assembled one that does all that, and includes a built in tuner too. I have been through loads of pickups trying to get one that sounded the best and gave a true reproduction of mandolin tones. Including the Shadow pickups, LR Baggs, and Fender. The UK-300T preamp with a hand made bridge pickup beats them all. It is powered by 2 CR2032 batteries, so no big 9 volt battery needed. The Greenbrier stormy mandolin is so named because of its beautiful hand rubbed blue distressed finish and because of the wild storms we have been having in Arkansas. The top is made from solid hand carved and graduated sitka spruce. The back is hand carved and graduated from solid figured maple. I also fit the top with scalloped parallel tone bars during the final graduating. Because of its size, the mandolin has to be custom built to fit this pickup, but boy did this mandolin sound good after I finished it. It is beautiful to hear, and beautiful to play. The pictures are of the mandolin you will receive. I love mandolins, and really enjoy making them sound wonderful. The finish on this mandolin is hand done, so don't expect to it to look like it came from a factory.
