This is a Epiphone Newport (batwing) 1965 - 66  neck thru body electric bass it has a rosewood fretless finger board which was done in the early 80's by Lay's guitar in Akron Ohio. This bass  was actually put together by Virgil Lay who actually worked for Gibson in the 50's - 60's. What he did was take the fretted fretboard off and applied a hand made  rosewood fretboard. the electronics are original except the added Dimarzio j bass pickups and the 3 toggle switches designed for pickup selection. It has a Schaller bridge and also O.E.M. tuners. It is currently strung with Thomastik flat wounds Overall the finish isnt too bad a lot of checking and finish cracking the back is really smooth the worst area is above the muddbucker pickup overall pretty nice for a 50 year older player. and it plays very smooth and alot of tone variation Any questions or concerns please ask. I have a case but it is not the right case but the guitar will be packed correctly I've shipped many
