This item listing is for a vintage 60's Ludwig super classic kit in silver sparkle. The covering has faded, though, into quite a gorgeous shade of ginger ale. Sizes are 13/16/22. Only the drums are included in the auction. I have no mounting hardware (tom holders or stands) whatsoever to include. This is very much a players kit. The drums have recently been disassembled and give a complete detail. All shells were waxed, hardware was all polished and the bass drum hoops were repainted (original inlay still exists). 9x13 tom has some non original tension rods and I question of the one of the hoops being original. The shell appears to be in round and sounds as it should. No extra holes. Date stamp of May or march 24, 1967 on the white painted interior. Internal muffler is compete and working. New heads installed. 16x16 all seems to be original, save for a a few possible tension rods. No extra holes. It does have new pearl air feet on the bottom of the period correct floor tom legs. Baseball bat internal muffler is complete and works. White painted interior, no date stamp. New heads installed. 14x22 kick drum has extra holes. The original consolette mount was moved at one time to middle, then just replaced with a 70's style downpost plate, though I don't think it's Ludwig. I believe five of the t rods and claws are not original. The hoops have been repainted, new heads installed. White painted interior. It's my belief that due to the consistent fading, the kit is an original kit and they we're not pieced together at some point. Even with the issues of the extra holes in the bass drum, it's still a very cool kit with plenty of the vibe from that era. And I suppose if you wanted to, the extra holes in the kick drum could be plugged and filled and you would probably never see them. I just couldn't see spending the money to do it, even though I have someone that could for a very affordable price, I'm sure. And just to say, I also think that even though this kit sounds great, one could certainly improve the tuning flexibility and range with new hoops and tension rods on the toms. I didn't want to mess with what's there, but I will make the offer to anyone interested that I can certainly do that for an extra fee. I can get 2.3 mm hoops and tension rods for pretty inexpensively.
