Everything about this guitar is quite remarkable, both its sound and its appearance.Top - Solid Japanese EZO Spruce ... The “M” stands for Matsu (= Spruce, in Japanese) ... see photo #12
Back - Solid Indian Rosewood
Sides - Indian Rosewood
Fret Board - Ebony
Neck - Honduras Mahogany
Heel Plate - Indian Rosewood
Face Plate - 3-Segment, 5-Ply Indian Rosewood (Final year this design was used)
Bridge - Ebony (even better sound transfer than rosewood)
Saddle - Bone
Nut - Bone
Tuners - Gold Finish w/Black Steel Shafts
String Length - Full Concert (658 mm)If you want to compare the sound and play-ability of this concert masterpiece to today's Yamaha GC-series, you'll need to look at the GC-42S (it's made in Japan, not China).* The custom second sound port enhances the playing experience without reducing the overall volume of the guitar. For most classical (acoustic) guitars the player doesn’t hear how the guitar really sounds “out front”. But with a second sound port, the artist gets to appreciate both the dynamics and the subtleties of his playing as heard by the audience.  Or, to put it differently, with this second port the guitar sounds ~30% louder and clearer to the person playing it; much more like ti sounds as heard by those "out front".SOUND:

This guitar has a full, crisp voice in the treble, middle, and bass registers.
This is partly because the top is solid EZO spruce - which Yamaha may no longer use - and partly because the wood is mature enough to have “opened up”. In addition, it has a strong, clear projection and resonance, as expected from a master luthier's handmade guitar.CONDITION:

9.8 out of 10 ... Please see photos
Action on frets feels perfect (see photo #4) ... no bowing of the neck. The original high-gloss finish is almost perfect. (There are a couple of tiny chips; so small they won’t show up in photos. Other than these, this guitar looks as if it had just left Mr. Harada's hands.)With proper, loving care this instrument will easily provide another 50+ years of playing (and listening) enjoyment.Shipping, et cetera:
