Les Paul lovers your Christmas wish has come true.  For sale is one of the rarest, finest and most collectable Les Pauls made.  The Les Paul Personal was the ultimate expression Les Paul's collaboration with Gibson.  It’s the model Les himself played from the late 1960s on.  It combined his innovative, virtually noiseless low impedance pickups and sophisticated EQ system with the fit and finish of Gibson’s top of the line jazz archtops - ebony fingerboard on a narrow, fast neck, gold hardware, double binding throughout, mother of pearl neck and headstock inlays.  This was truly the flagship of the Les Paul fleet.  It even has a mic input with level control to let the player control their own, guitar-mounted vocal mic.  The perfect guitar for home recording.  Only 146 were produced and more than a few were sacrificed to Les’s relentless mods and tinkering.  To further reduce unwanted resonance, the mahogany body is overall an inch longer and an inch wider than a regular Les Paul which makes this ax a very solid 14 pounds.  This also makes its worn original hard shell case even more valuable, since the larger body silhouette won’t fit in a normal Gibson or aftermarket LP case. FULL DISCLOSURE - this guitar has been refinished and restored to as close to as new condition as possible.  I bought it used in 1977 with bad belt rash, numerous finish flaws, a cracked nut, bad bridge pieces and top hat selector switch, pickguard and 2 Grover Rotomatic tuners missing.  It was refinished in 1979 by a Gibson trained luthier who also replaced the ABR bridge, top hat tone switch knob and Grover tuners with correct replacement parts.  The same luthier also made a new pickguard, bone nut and did a refret .  The original Bigsby vibrato, with the rare Gibson logo, was restored and replated by Bigsby in Kalamazoo in 1995.  I also added a second set of bridge height screws at the body to keep it rigid.  There are no finish imperfections beyond the usually minor surface scratches of a well cared for 45 y.o. guitar.  Guitar was professionally set up about six years ago and plays like a dream. Also missing is the original Gibson branded impedance-matching transformer, replaced by two Shure units and a custom made stereo cable that allows you to remove the transformers if you are going directly into a low impedance device such as a mixing board..   Also included is a photocopy of the original handwritten Gibson circuitry schematic, as well as some information I gathered online on how to use the various controls.   Shipping weight is 31 lbs. Will ship internationally.  PayPal preferred. Item is in good working and somatic condition by is sold in AS IS CONDITION.
