Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb has been expertly maintained to balance function with originality. Stocked with fresh 6V6 power tubes and an assortment of mostly vintage USA-made preamp tubes (the majority of which are RCAs), this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has great midrange content, light compression, and starts to saturate with smooth tube overdrive after about 5 on the volume dial. The Reverb is very lush with long decay and the tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. Professionally recapped with F&T filter caps, the amp also sports a modern three-prong power cable so the power amp is stable and working as per factory spec with a very low noise floor suitable for recording. A recap is standard maintenance for any amp of this vintage (the original components have a life of 10-20 years), and only the highest quality, factory spec components were used. All of the original Ajax blue molded caps are intact in the preamp and these caps are one of the hallmarks of classic Blackface tone. The CTS pots and chassis stamp date the amp to 1965, and all of the original Schumacher transformers are present as well with mid '65 date codes. The tube chart is intact with an "OI" date code which translates to September of 1965. The speaker also dates to 1965 and was manufactured by Utah for Fender, with a clean black frame and new blue foil label on the ceramic magnet. While this speaker would have originally been found in a Fender Bandmaster (as noted by the factory stamp on the magnet), the specs are virtually identical to the stock Deluxe speaker, and it sounds particularly good with a fresh recone.Cosmetically, the amp is very original overall, with stock smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. There is moderate aging of the grillcloth and some minor scuffs around the edges of the tolex, with only one bald spot of note along the right front edge of the enclosure. The faceplate is a modern genuine Fender reissue that perfectly matches the original (a new plate was substituted to cover up a couple small and now reversed mods made in the chassis that compromised the look of the original plate), and the amp is still outfitted with all of the stock witch hat knobs. The original hardware is all present as well including the chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), corners, and raised Fender logo on the baffle. This is a very original and well maintained example of one of Fender's most famous Blackface amps!
