Description
Exact Year: 1963 Country/Region of Manufacture: United States
Brand: Fender Model: Champ

1963 Fender Champ Tweed  For sale is my 1963 Fender Champ tweed amp with 5F1 circuit.  The amp has most of its original components but the output transformer has been changed to a Mercury Magnetics clone tone FTCHO-5.   My amp tech changed the OT because the original was weak.  I do have the original OT transformer and it will be included in the auction. Mercury Magnetics will rewind the old OT for around $200 if you wish to do so.  I have a number of tweed Champs and I cannot find any discernible difference in the tone it produces with the newer output transformer.  The speaker has also been changed.  The date code on the Oxford 8EV-29 speaker is 465-823,  so the speaker was manufactured the 23rd week of 1958.  I assume that since the speaker date is 5 years before the amp assembly date that the speaker is a vintage replacement. The cloth wires from the speaker have the original solder connecting them to the speaker so I am very confident that it is a 1958.  The serial number on the control panel is 20509 and the stamp code on the tube chart is MC, which signifies the amp was assembled in March of 1963.  The tweed covering and grill cloth on this amp are in very good condition with some minor imperfections.   The control panel chrome is in very good condition and the white lettering is in excellent condition.  Other than the changed OT and speaker, the chassis and its electronic components are all original. The amp has its original handle. The tweed and grill are original and are in excellent condition for an amp that is 54 years old.  As with any piece of electronic equipment that is 54 years old, the possibility that the amp could require servicing at any time is always a consideration. It is being sold as is with no return, no warranty and no full or partial refund. I have included many detailed pictures below this description, so please examine them.    I will ship the amp by UPS ground, fully insured for the buy it now price and a signature will be required for delivery.
