This is an ultra-rare original Dr. Walker Edition X-Base 09 from 2002. This special edition has a 4x expanded Hi Hat ROM. Look up the X-Base 09 specs if you aren't familiar with this beast. It is a unique and incredible take on a Roland TR-909. It is a sequencing drum machine with real analog instruments mixed with gritty samples that can be run thru an LFO for even more tweakability. Has individual outs, pattern storage and midi control. I prefer this to the newer X-Base 999 due to its simplicity and ease of use. Nothing matches it and I'm sad to part with it. This item is in excellent condition. Functions perfectly and ships with original power supply and a Pelican 1490 Hard Case (which costs $140). I tried to capture everything with photos. Only cosmetic issues are some light scuffs on the bottom and a few dings on the painted wood ends. Nothing major. There are no marks on the face at all. Pelican case does not have the key (I lost it), but works perfectly just doesn't lock. I'm sure it can be replaced if you really wanna lock it up. I'm the second owner, but it has been kept in a temp controlled smoke free studio for the 8 years I've owned it. Juergen (the creator)'s description is below... he had recently sold a few out of old stock materials for over $1K USD per (plus costs a fortune to ship here and they customs). The XBase09, which has become kind of cult machine meantime, was designed from a passion to rework the ever-used 909 with its sequencer qualities. Maybe there was another musical expressivity behind the analog sound circuitry than only the famous kick in the gut? How does an anlog kick drum sound if you can control any of its parameters from the sequencer and plus combine it even with an LFO? For much of the last twenty years, true analog drum machines appeared to be an extinct species. Fortunately, after the "dark" years of all-pervasive drum samples in the 80?s, the great vintage beatboxes of yesterday were rediscovered by the Hiphop scene. At nearly the same time, the exploding Techno and Electronica movement also declared these analog masterpieces to be veritable cult-objects and built an entire musical culture around them. Even today, rap, dance, rock, country, hiphop and pop recordings are quite often rooted with the warm and powerful sound of a true analog kick drum.
