Made by G. Edward Hudson (36 years a Bodhran Player) this Bodhran is made of wood such as would be used for Guitar Sides. Two 1/8'th inch pieces are bonded together and inside two more smaller layers are installed to support the tack length and to support the tuning boxes. The tuning ring is installed brfore the goat sjin is put on. Except for the machinery & tacks the rest is all wooden construction. This makes a strong drum shell which is also much lighter in weight than plywood construction The woods used here are Norway Maple and African Mahogony.I have made about 60 of this style. This one was completed in June 2016 in Canterbury, New Hampshire.
