Camper - item watcher with no intentions to buy. View sold or completed listings to check for prices.This is a real deal 1985 Les Paul Custom. Also known as the black beauty. Complete binding front and rear of body, fretboard and headstock. This guitar has seen lots and lots of use over the years and shows it age in the paint and missing pieces of binding on the head (see photos 2 & 3). It's loaded with Tim Shaw pickups, and has fast low action. Also, there appears to be little wear on the frets (photo 5 strings pulled out of the way to show no grooves are there). They were probably replaced at some point but the repair (if done) was done correctly seeing as all the nibs (raised area of binding at each fret) at the fret ends are still in place. The frets are low and flat as was the standard for these guitars back in the day.The body and neck are all mahogany, and more than likely has the standard carved maple top as viewed through the small chipped off paint near some of the binding and pickguard area.
Electronics and hardware appear to be all original (pic 10). The code on the pots is R1378512. The 85 refers to year of manufacture. The only change I can verify was made was to the tuning machines. The stock tuning machines were replaced with Grovers with the large keys for the standard look. Includes SKB hardshell case which is not as bulky as the huge "chainsaw" case this would have originally come with.
