Up for bid is this Lavry 8-channel A to D converter in like-new, pristine condition. It has been used by a high end (smoke-free) classical studio and has produced dozens of classical CDs for major labels. We are the only owner; we purchased the unit directly from Dan Lavry.Includes manual, power cord, and original box and foam packing (see photo.) No returns but works perfectly, guaranteed not DOA.Current street price on this unit new is $4320.If you're looking at this, you already know the quality of this converter! Here is some info from the Lavry website:The 4496-7 is the 8-Channel ADC configuration of the LavryBlue™ System. This Lavry Blue chassis contains 8 AD converters, plus the clocking module providing synchronization for the entire rig.Lavry Blue M∙AD824 A/D Converter and M.SYNC Board Features:A/D cards allow the selection of various word lengths, analog or digital soft saturation and acoustic bit correction, dither and noise shaping. Other features include LED metering, reference meter bridge, peak detection and front panel gain control. Conversion may use internal crystals or externally lock to word clock or AES signal.
8 channels of sonically transparent Lavry A-to-D conversion:M∙SYNC master clock module controls all A/D modules in a 4496 frame for "phase accurate" multi channel recording.Ultra-stable internal crystal operation at 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHzNarrow external lock for ultra-stable operation at 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHzWide lock mode for non-standard sample rates or vari-speed operation24 bit, 16 bit and 16 bit plus dither and Acoustic Bit Correction noise shaping.Analog and Digital Saturation modes allow hotter recording levelsDigital level metering with "clipping" indicators and peak holdReference mode for calibration to studio standard levelsSPDIF compatible AES/XLR digital outputThe 4496 Chassis is a standard 1U 19”rack unit.Input Voltage- “Universal” input accepts inputs of 90-264VAC, 47-63Hz, Internally fused 2.5ACurrent Consumption @120VAC- Steady-state: Typically less than 0.5A (Varies with configuration/number of modules).Steady-state Maximum: 1ADimensions: 19” wide x 11.5”deep x 1.75” high (Enclosure minus clearance for switches and connectors measures 10.5” deep)Approximate Weight- ~ 9 lbs (Varies with configuration/number of modules)."Traditionally, top engineers and studios across the planet have purchased Lavry Engineering digital converters when they DON'T want to hear a digital converter changing their audio in ways that they don't intend. While staying true to the performance reputation of the Gold series (like the AD122, for example), Lavry Engineering's modular Blue series changes the game a little bit. Aside from a completely configurable rackmount modular architecture, the BLUE series still offers some of the finest 'no-artifact' conversion available while also adding features such as 'Analog Soft Saturation' (an analog peak limiter before conversion) and 'Digital Soft Saturation' (analog tape overdrive emulation). Now, you can be protected from accidental 'overs' and/or a little 'character' can be added to the signal. The affect of two stages of conversion (AD and DA) was barely detectable. This is practically unheard of... and this was using a Lavry design from about the mid-nineties! The Blue series really should be considered by anyone who wants to do perfect digital, whether it be for tracking, monitoring, mastering, etc." -- Alan Moon
