Up for sale, a 1982 Greco Mint Collectionl LP Custom "Black Beauty" model EG57-60 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This expertly crafted Japanese guitar clearly takes its cues from its Gibson cousin (no relation), and this Greco is a descendent of the famed "lawsuit" guitars from Japan's history, although there was no such controversy surrounding this particular brand or instrument. The Mint Collection series launched in 1982 and this era was defined by great adherence to vintage spec and fantastic build quality. Truly designed to emulate a '50s LP Custom, this guitar features a solid mahogany body and carved top, with top tier features such as a long neck tenon and fret edge binding. The guitar retains the original "Screamin 1982" humbuckers which deliver a great spin on the classic PAF tone, boasting incredible harmonic content, great punch and an overall full and rich tonal character. There's plenty of bite and chime in the top end too!  The weight of this guitar is typical for a Custom at 10lbs 14oz, and this body is solid and not weight relieved. This guitar is simply one of the most elegant and easy to play Les Pauls we've had in the shop here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, with extremely low and comfortable action, near endless sustain, and solid intonation. The neck has a medium C shaped profile that has just enough chunk and roundness, and the traditional 1 11/16" nut width feels intuitive to any Gibson aficionado. The long neck tenon is visible in the neck pickup cavity and the rosewood fretboard is the only feature of the instrument that's a bit more akin to a Les Paul Standard (although the pearloid block inlays and binding still reference a Custom). The stock slender vintage-style fretwire is in great shape, showing light wear beneath the plain strings in the first position and a bit of flattening of the fret crowns beneath the plain strings until fret 10. The guitar plays cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots, and the truss rod is responsive too. The headstock has multi-ply binding, the classic "open book" shape, and a unique diamond-esque pearloid inlay. The gold tuners turn very smoothly and sport metal tulip buttons that really look the part and show virtually no wear, with the Greco "G" stamped in the center of each gear. All of the electronics work as they should, and the pickups are well balanced with strong output.  The harness features two full size pots and two smaller Japanese replacements, shielded, braided wire and ceramic disc tone caps. Cosmetically, the guitar shows buckle rash on the back as well as a couple dings near the controls, and a few other nicks and marks of wear on the body as a whole. The neck profile is very clean and there is only moderate wear to the gold plating on the pickup covers and bridge saddles. The undersides of the pickups retain clean "Screamin" PAF stickers. Overall, this is a great example of the detail oriented, quality craftsmanship of the FujiGen factory where the majority of Grecos were produced, and the Mint Collection series resulted in some of the most collectable instruments in the company's history!
