Description

Here's a real interesting guitar. It appears as though it started it's life as a 1954 Telecaster and has been poked and prodded on since then. There have been many changes and modifications over the years, but it still retains some originality.Let's first address the issues. The neck is definitely an original with good 'ole "TG" initials indicating that the now famous Tadeo Gomez shaped this neck. The date is "TG 10-54" as you can see in the pictures. It has had some mods. It has been refretted long ago with slightly larger frets and the frets still have decent life left. Someone sanded the fretboard when this was done and you can see sand marks. The tuners were changed with some interesting and old Grovers. It also appears to have had others on it at one time. The original string tree seems to have broken off in the head stock and when it was sprayed over, someone just put a repro decal right over it. You can see this in the picture. The neck still retains it's shape and plays very well. there is a newer string tree added, as you can see. Not sure, but I would think the nut was changed during all of this. The neck plate has no serial number, so not original. The body has been contoured by some genius long ago to resemble more of a Strat type contoured body and whoever did the refinish, sprayed on the coating heavily ! I am not sure what the painting on the body under the pick guard was all about , but it is not seen with guard on. The black guard is a newer repro. The jack plate was changed to an aluminum plate some time ago. I can send a picture if someone wants it. The control plate, switch, and at least one of the pots is original. I can only make out one pot code of "137 344 " but they look to be the same type. There has been some monkey business with the wiring at one time. Some is original, but there is other wiring that is goofy. I guess at one time someone experimented in some way. I believe the knobs are newer along with the switch tip. The bridge appears to be original with a Pat.Pend. serial number of 2049 along with the smooth bridge saddles, unlike the newer ones that had the threads ( like screw threads ) on them. The pickups are old, but I do not believe original, although they sound great ! While I was messing with the guitar to take pictures, the bridge pickup wire connected to the pot came off. It was spliced on there with some newer wire that I spoke of earlier. I'll probably just leave it so the new owner can do what they want. It's a very easy fix and I assure you the pickup works and sounds great !  That's about all I can say about this guitar. With all of it's "warts" and not being a beautiful guitar by any stretch, it is still a nice old '54 Tele that plays and sounds really good without the huge price tag !! It is what it is, but it's still a really cool Tele for players. It comes in a non original hard shell case. Please ask any questions you have and I'll give you what I know.
