Here it is, the classic Roland TR-808 analog drum machine in excellent condition! Accept no imitations. This machine needs no introduction and has been used on countless recordings over the years, from platinum records to underground hits. The real TR-808 still remains a serious studio tool due to its real analog boom, sizzle and ultra funky sequencer. Newer emulations, clones, and samples have tried to emulate this machine but fall short of reproducing the all the nuances you get with a real 808. It truly sounds amazing and alive, yet the real appeal of this machine is also in the wonderfully intuitive interface and rock-solid sequencer. It's hard not to make a great beat on this machine. Get the true analog booming bass kicks, crispy snares and famous distinctive sounds of the real TR-808.

This TR-808 was purchased from Japan in excellent conditon and never left the studio. It was always covered while not in use. It's made like a tank! These were produced in an era where things were built to last.

It has been upgraded with a NEW tact switch board with new sequencer LED switches made by technology transplant, so programming beats is a breeze (no sticky buttons)! Cosmetically, this TR-808 has a few minor blemishes and scratches as you'd expect from a vintage machine, but as you can see from the photos it's very clean overall. One of the white caps from tone knobs was missing so it has been replaced by a custom sticker, which is hardly noticable at all.

Sound-wise this TR-808 sounds great and all voices work well. Raw power! FYI: One fun minor quirk is that when you switch instruments from maraca to clap, it occasionally takes a couple seconds for the clap reverb to start, resulting in dry clap for a few hits (which sounds great for IMO; I prefer this to the reverbed clap sometimes). Please keep in mind this a vintage machine and no two 808's sound exactly alike; luckily the sounds can be adjusted if desired. The individual outputs all work, with minimal if any bleed between sounds. This is a 100V Japanese version so a step down converter should be used with it. I didn't modify it with MIDI because a lot of the magic from this machine comes from the sequencer, so a MIDI to DIN Sync converter box is all you really need to incorporate the TR-808 into your setup.
