Up for sale we have a very nice Buffet pre-R13 in the key of A. This clarinet has just been restored with leather pads and is in good playing condition. Back in its day this instrument was a top of the line professional clarinet. It features a unique wraparound register key that is less obstructive to the bore of the instrument. Unlike modern instruments, this clarinet is made out of Grenadilla wood aged for twenty years. This old wood is therefore very stable and is unlikely to crack. The keys are also made of unplated nickel-silver, so unlike a modern instrument it will never have plating wear. These features have allowed this instrument to withstand the test of time. Overall this instrument is in good condition for its age, and will come to you in perfect playing condition. This instrument has no cracks, but there was a chip on the outside of the lower joint that had to be repaired. The chip was in a location such that it was not in contact with the bore, and therefore had no effect on the playability. The chip had since been expertly repaired and is almost completely invisible. The only other thing worth mentioning is that the logo on the barrel seems to have worn off. Because of this I am not completely sure this is the original barrel. The current barrel matches the bore and the style of the instrument perfectly so this is not really an issue. I am only mentioning it to be 100% honest about this instrument. Also included is a shorter plastic Buffet barrel which is nice for playing at higher pitches. This instrument also comes with a single case. This instrument is a great alternative to an expensive A clarinet to match your Bb. If you are serious about playing the clarinet, an A clarinet is essential.
