Description Brand: Karl Herrman Markneukirchen Germany Type: Acoustic Model: Andreas Morelli Deluxe Model V Exact Year: c 1920 Country/Region of Manufacture: Germany Size: 4/4 UPC: Does not apply
Very nice vintage 4/4 violin from the Karl Hermann shop of Markneukirchen area of Germany. Rare low #234 violin with case and Germany bow. Case even has the original key. Morelli's are incredible value German made violins advanced players have been appreciating for some time. This one is extra special in that, as it is a low number, in theory, more care and precision went into it than that of later models - only in theory of course. Visible through the F-hole is the following:ReproduzzioneJohannnes GabriellyFlorence anno 1763Andreas Morelli [This appears to be printed by hand]DeLuxe Violin Style V Serial #234 [This appears to be written by hand]Andreas MorelliJohannes Gabrielly1763This violin is in solid condition. All blocks and sound post are solid. The fingerboard has no ridging. The four original tuning pegs are in place. Note that the (gold?) inlay of A string peg is missing. This does not affect performance or tuning. Note the treble clef inlay of the tuning pegs match the inlay on the tailpiece - rare original detail from the Karl Hermann shop. The soundboard and back are tightly glued to the sides, no separations. The chin rest, attachment hardware, and tailpiece come with the violin and we believe them to be original. Close visual inspection reveals no cracks around the tuner peg holes. The neck is securely attached to the body of the violin. Purfing shows moderate rub wear but no significant impressions. Pin striping is intact around face and back. Back and front show wear as pictured and as noted there is evidence of congealed rosin as seen in the photos. The violin is 23.5" long by 8.25" across at the lower bout and 6.5" across at the upper bout. The body is 14" long.We believe the 29" bow is probably from the same time period. It is imprinted GERMANY in block letters.and appears in nice condition with some rosin residue. Comes with what we believe to be theoriginal hard shell case. The latches all work and top securely attached to the base. It even has the original key. The zipper still work and has no missing teeth. The worst thing about the case is that the covering on the handle has come off. Suggest the new owner wraps the handle in leather. Exterior front and rear surfaces are in very good to excellent condition. Interior is similar, no strong or significant odors and the fabric is still solid and intact, it is not disintegrating. Please look at the photos very closely as they are meant to be part of the full description. Strings are in place but you should expect to have to replace them. Overall a fantastic investment opportunity for an extremely well-constructed reputable German made instrument.ReturnsAlways a 30 day return policy.
