For your consideration: an absolutely stunning 100% original 1976 Les Paul Custom in Ebony. This tone monster has been lovingly cared-for and shows almost no wear and tear. The condition is a solid 9 out of 10. This guitar has spent the last 35 years in it's case, under a bed! Except for a few slight imperfections, this baby looks more like it's 4-years-old than 40-years-old!
There is a tiny dimple on the front between the knobs, a slight ding to the back of the neck (which does NOT affect playability) and some very light scratching to the back (which could probably be buffed-out if so desired). Please check the pictures, as I have tried my best to capture any and all defects.
The gold plating on the pickups is almost fully intact (which is rare). The binding is tight. There are NO cracks or breaks. It is solid as solid can be. There is some minor fret wear (small indents) around the "cowboy chords", but again, nothing that affects playability. The neck is perfectly straight and plays lightning-fast with no buzzing or dead spots anywhere on the fretboard. Great intonation and you can bend away to your heart's content across these infamous zero-frets. Throw on a new pair of strings, set it up how you like it, and you're ready to rock.
All the electronics work perfectly. No scratchy pots and the pickups have just as much oomph and growl as they did 40 years ago. Being a mid-70's model, this does have some weight to it, but it's not as heavy as some other 70's boat anchors I've played and even Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap would approve of the sustain this baby has. Now, the original case is not nearly as immaculate as the guitar, and shows a good deal of wear. But it has done it's job well, protecting this 40-year-old beauty.Believe me, just plug this baby into a Marshall, crank it up, and you're in rock-n-roll Heaven all day long.
