This Palir Imperial was made by John about a year and a half ago. I am an acoustic player most of the time and wanted a more substantial neck. I had John put on a roasted maple neck with a C12 radius and this Imperial would have the feel of an acoustic guitar, have a glassy smoothness, and would look exceptionally bad to the bone. Mission accomplished! This guitar plays like a dream! The Porter 9T pickups sound incredible in this guitar as well. I wanted the P90 sound you'd expect from a JazzMaster style guitar, but I also wanted some additional top end chime. The 9T's were the perfect choice, and having the middle pickup adds a new element of tone with more midrange punch than you'd expect. In addition, this guitar grabs the attention of just about every eye that falls on it. The aged metallic blue on top a weathered grey swamp ash body are accentuated with a brushed aluminum pick guard and rustic-modern hardware. I've kept this Palir in my smoke free studio and it is in the same condition it was in the day it came to me after 8 months of waiting for the build to be complete.
