On offer is a new Deering Goodtime 2 Resonator back back 5-string banjo. With the Deering deluxe gig bag. Comes with the Deering 7 year Goodtime banjo warranty. This is a new banjo, built in 2014; never displayed and in original Deering box. Free shipping within Canada and USA ( lower 48 states ) Most banjo players you meet will tell you they first saw a banjo played in a concert somewhere and immediately ran out and bought their first banjo. They were hooked on banjo for life ! In 2010 and early 2011, Steve Martin allowed Deering to associate the Deering Goodtime II resonator-back banjo with the Steve Martin “Crow” touring band. Then in 2012/13 he extended that program to the newest "Rare Bird Attack" tour.
The Goodtime II banjo is a superb starter banjo, and Deering has put together “The Rare Bird Alert Package” ; a complete kit for any beginner. Included in the package: The Deering Goodtime 2 resonator back banjo: maple neck and rim with bow tie fretboard inlays. Plus: - Deering Deluxe Gig bag

You get this banjo in fully playable condition – not just out of the box. As with all of our banjos, it is thoroughly set up to professional standards. Note: we also offer the basic Goodtime 11 resonator-back banjo. The same banjo, but when you "do the math" on the extras you get with the Rare Bird, it is a MUCH better buy.
The Deering Goodtime banjo construction notes: Built entirely in rock-maple. The rim is “wood tone ring” style. The head rests directly on the wood rim which is machined to give a flat-head tone ring contour for a warmer, less edgy or brash tone. Wood tone-ring construction lends itself well to low priced banjos. the cheap metal tone-rings used in many low prices arguably don’t improve the tone, enhancing harsh and undesirable overtones.
The fully US made Deering Goodtime 11 is has lovely warm and mellow tone yet offers fat, clear highs…certainly the sweetest sounding entry level banjo in this price range. ( in my humble opinion of course ! ). The banjo is complete setup with standard action at 5/64 and head tension tuned to G#. Fret level is carefully checked on each instrument and all of our banjos will leave our shop in fully playable condition. It is strung with new D’Addario light gauge strings… but I would be happy to install whatever gauge you prefer and setup according to your right hand attack and action expectations. I have been building, restoring and servicing banjos since 1977. We have 6 full-time Luthiers on staff; all the skills and expertise needed to setup your banjo to suit you.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
