Description
Brand: Gretsch Country/Region of Manufacture: United States

Dating this drum is very hard as this color was produced between 58 - 62 and was installed in very limited quantities of drums. This drum has a 6 ply shell and there is a paper tag with serial number 12900 present inside the shell. Anyway you look at it, this is a very rare original Anniversary Sparkle finish 4157 "Name Band" model snare drum, in fine vintage condition. Bearing edges are factory smooth and original. The finish is striking. Its beauty is beyond description. No extra holes or any modifications. Minor pitting on hoops. Original parts except for the snare wires and heads. New Evans 360 Hazy 200 snare side and Coated G1 batter heads and Puresound snare wires installed. These Evans 360 heads fit fine on these oversized Gretsch shells and don't choke the drum as Remo Ambassadors do. The snare side head easily takes the shape of those super deep Gretsch snare beds without having to tighten the head to breaking point, choking the drum or  that notorious head wrinkling, making the drum as sensitive as you would dream of and tuning a breeze. You'll change your mind about vintage Gretsch snares when you play this one. The micro-sensitive strainer works fine and is super smooth. Has never disengaged on me even on the heaviest of rim shots. The 4 point butt plate works fine but has a very slight bend on the threaded rod. I will not try to straighten it as I'm not tool savvy. Will leave that one to the buyer.I will do my best to answer any questions.Wishes for an awesome, healthy prosperous and musical year to all. Thanks for looking.John
