Not all maple is created equal, and this particular set is as fine as they come.This guitar was built during the days when Ren Ferguson was responsible for selecting the tonewoods for the Gibson acoustics. He picked this set of wood himself. I once asked him how his guitars sounded so much better than others. His response to me was "I select wood that already knows how to sing."
