Description

A fairly rare and unique set of African black wood bagpipes in good playing condition. George Kilgour apprenticed under James Robertson. Hence his pipes have Robertson feel to them. He opened up his own shop in the late 1970's in Edinburgh. His pipes were very popular among military Piper's at the time. And he had a very loyal following. He later went on to partner with KRON bagpipes. These pipes are believed to date from some time between 79 and 84 and were made in his Edinburgh shop. They are African black wood. In the photos you'll notice rather unique stocks. The have a imitation ivory centre with a nickle outer rings. The pipes have imitation ivory and nickle ferrules throughout. There is a slight crack in the upper bass but it does not go through. I just had them checked over and serviced at a pipe shop. There is also a small chip in the upper bass drone cord seat. But purely cosmetic. They come with a medium Canmore gortex bag and a new bottle moisture tube. They have an Airstream adjustable blow pipe, mg drone reeds in good condition and a Robertson chanter. The drones have a nice mellow tone and I have them tuning nicely on the pins at 475 Hz.
