Up for sale, a 1960's Eko Model 300/2 vintage hollowbody electric guitar in exceptional condition and perfect working order. Built in Recanati, Italy in the mid '60s, Eko Guitars have developed a cult following for defining the Italian electric guitar market under their own name as well as the Vox brand and numerous others. The 300 series is also particularly rare and was produced in small quantities, with their most notable feature being the lack of F holes, which made this a more upscale and feedback resistant instrument than the 100 and 200 series Ekos.
Clearly inspired by Hofner's Club series instruments and weighing in at an absolute featherweight 4lbs 6oz, this Model 300/2 (with the "2" denoting this as a two pickup model) features a fully hollow maple body that is particularly resonant with a dry midrange, warm low end, and snappy treble response that translates well through the staple top pickups. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Eko frets comfortably with solid intonation. The neck has a medium C profile the leans towards the slimmer side of things, with a 1 5/8" nut width. The bound rosewood fretboard boasts its 22 original frets in addition to the zero fret. These frets are in incredible shape, with the only perceivable wear being on the very first fret under the plain strings. The headstock sports a veneer on the face, with gold Eko logo and the original set of white button, open gear tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The body boasts multi-ply cream binding, a two-tone sunburst finish that is beautifully checked, tortoise pickup control plate, white pickups and knobs, and a mother of pearl pickguard. Electronically, everything works as it should, with the staple top pickups wired to a master volume and tone, and four push button pickup selector switches. As far as cosmetic wear is concerned, there is very little to note aside from the aforementioned finish checking, and a couple of wear spots on the sides, one near pickup switches, and another on the treble side lower bout. Otherwise, this guitar is in remarkable shape and is a great vintage instrument for recording or gigging situations.A vintage chipboard case is included.
