Roland W-30 - Sampler - Mint - SCSI expanded
The W30 Music Workstation was released in the late 80's.
It is a 12/16 bits sampler with full sample editing, DSP tools, onboard MIDI sequencing and wave table synthesis.
It can read several sampler disks types, like S50, S550, S330 and of course W30 disks.It comes in mint condition, with a still bright backlight.
This model is expanded with the which works great and allow you to load/save/archive your sound on aSCSI Hardrive/Compact Flash/Zip drive.
The W30 is an amazing piece of gear because it has 8 outputs and lots of software for PC, MAC, Amiga, Atari.Sampling frequencies are: 30khz or 15Khz, with a maximum of 28.8 seconds sampling time.You wouldnt believe the quality of the sound on this machine, due to a special Roland interpolation processing applied after sampling.You can easily play the sound on 5 octaves without limitation and a 15Khz sample rate is almost equivalent to 30Khz due to the post processing who fills the gap in the between the samples.The W30 has realtime LowPass filters with self oscillating resonnance, 16 voices polyphonic, polyphonic outputs, a built-in sequencer with 16 tracks, 768KB roms samples including the famous sounds of the Roland TR-808.The screen shows the waveforms and all the paramters in a very graphic and simple way, but make no mistakes:This is a professional sampler.Thats why its still a cutting edge tool for Dance Music today, if you like to get that 90's sound, the W-30 is THE ultimate machine for you.One of the best tricks of this machine, besides its amazing filters is its ability to copy ghost samples in ram and assign different sample starts point to those ghosts samples.This mean you can cut drumloop, or of sample and place different sample start point on each key while never using more ram memory than the original sample do, where many samplers need to copy the sample many times in order to have a new sample start assignement, wasting precious amount of memory for nothing.It's one of the key to great breakbeat loop, but not only.
