1984 Fender AVRI Stratocaster 1957 reissue – Near Mint ConditionFor sale is my 1984 Fender AVRI 1957 reissue Stratocaster.  The serial number is V014306. These AVRI Strats are considered to be some of the best reproductions of the 1957 maple neck Strat that were ever made.  They were only made in the Fender Fullerton plant from 1982 to 1984.  I purchased this Strat new in 1984 while shopping for a Marshall Amp. I had always played and owned Gibson guitars but this Strat was on display close to the Marshall 100 watt head so I gave it a spin.    I loved the sound of the guitar and bought it on the spot.  The one thing that I did not like was the 7.5” radius and the very small repo frets the guitar came with.  I like low action and had problems with the upper strings fretting out when bending them 1 to 2 notes above the 12th fret.  I brought the guitar to my luthier, T.W. Doyle ( Les Paul’s sound man and guitar tech). I had him re-work the neck radius to a 10 inch and re-fret the neck with larger wire. With the flatter, more modern type of neck radius and the larger wire, the guitar was much easier to play with low action.  While this process was taking place and had the opportunity to buy a 1959 slab board Strat that became one of my main players. The 1957 reissue was put in my collection and played very sparingly.  There is one small nick ¼” long on the treble side of the guitar body that is not very noticeable. This is why I say the guitar is near mint. If it were not for this small imperfection, the guitar would look brand new. I am the original owner and no other work was ever done to this instrument. It comes in the original repo tweed case and the whammy bar, ashtray cover, 5 way switch, 2 allen keys, case lock key and guitar booklet. The guitar has virtually no playing wear at all. This is probably as close to new (1984)  as you could get. The 10 inch radius neck and larger fret wire just improve an already great instrument.  If you have read about the 1982 to 1984 Fullerton made 57 AVRI you will see that these two issues were the concerns that people had.  This has been taken care of by one of the best luthiers in the business. Please examine the many photographs below this description and decide for yourself on the condition. The neck is straight, the action is low and it plays great.   Everything on the guitar is original as stated except for the neck radius and frets. I have had this guitar in my collection for 32 years. It has always been in a climate controlled, smoke free environment.  The guitar weighs 7 lbs 15 oz.  I will ship the guitar by UPS fully insured for the auction price and a signature will be required for delivery.
