What's a Rift?Rift Amplification are a Northampton-based builder of top quality hand-wired guitar amplifiers. Their amps owe more than a passing nod to the iconic Californian vintage amps of the 50s and 60s, which appeared on countless classic recordings. Chris from Rift uses only top quality components, including Jupiter tone caps and F&T electrolytics, to ensure you get a fantastic vintage sounding amp without the reliability issues inherent in a 60 year old piece of electronics. The current waiting time for a brand new amp from Rift is 4 months and rising.Tweed 15?For sale here we have a brand new Tweed 15 head, based heavily on the classic 5e3 circuit found in the legendary Tweed Deluxes of the late 50s, as used by everybody from Keith Richards and Neil Young to Joe Bonamassa and ..er Steven Segal. The only circuit changes are to improve safety and reduce background hum and don't impact the classic tone.It 's supplied with a complete set of NOS valves as selected, tested and supplied by Rift to be a perfect match. This is a £200 upgrade on the stock amp.The amp comes fitted with the following NOS valvesRCA 12AY7RTF ECC832x Philips JAN 6v6Sylvania JAN 5Y3WGTWhat does it play like?The tones are classic Tweed and range from some of the finest cleans known to man, up to a syrupy, dynamic overdrive and everything in between. These amps famously respond in a really connected way to guitar volume and playing dynamics and the tone is impacted not just by the volume control of the channel in use, but also to the volume of channel you're not using at the same time. So between 2 volumes,1 tone control and your choice of guitar, pickups and playing style, the range of tones available is huge.This is a light and very portable head (around 8kg) with 2x 8 Ohm outputs and it's an ideal grab and go format for rehearsals and playing small to medium sized gigs (depending on the speaker combinations you connect)What's the condition and is there a warranty?What I'm selling here is a brand new amp. I received it on 22nd Dec, 2016 and it's been played for a total of around 2hrs.It is totally mint and has no issues of any kind. Given that the amp is brand new, Rift have very kindly offered to transfer the warranty to the new owner, as long as they register the amp with them.Why are you selling?It sounds fantastic but my plans to gig have been put on hold and it's just a little too loud for me to use at home through my 2x12 cab without causing issues with our neighbours.So what you have here is a brand new and immaculate 15 watt tweed head based on the 5e3 circuit, made with top quality components, a full compliment of NOS valves and a full Rift warranty for 20% off list (current list for this amp head with the NOS valves on the Rift site is £1,129) and with no need to wait 4 months for deliveryCan you post it? ..can I come and try it out?I have all of the original packaging and I'm happy to arrange an insured courier within the UK.
